Semi-sparkling wines

Production and sale of white wine: semi-sparkling wine

For Italian legislation a semi-sparkling wine is one which at a temperature of 20°C manifests an overpressure due to the carbon dioxide within from 1 to 2.5 atmospheres. In natural semi-sparkling wines the CO2 is released in the vat during the process of re-fermentation. The white wine of Vignarosa, and in particular the semi-sparkling wine, is obtained from the production of Glera and Verdiso grapes – two historical mainstays of our wine-growing experience. The Verdiso is well-known and appreciated locally while the Prosecco, a white wine that has become a leader product also as a sparkling wine both in terms of production and of sales, seems to know practically no limits and is greatly appreciated all over the world. Among the prizes that continue to come in at the wine contests where it is presented, worthy of note is the Dama d’Oro at Ecoconegliano 2010 and the important acknowledgement of Silver Medal for the sparkling Prosecco “40” that was awarded at the International Wine and Spirit Competition held in London in May 2011. This wine is particularly suitable as an aperitif or as an accompaniment for light meals but almost any occasion is appropriate for uncorking a bottle, especially if you are in good company.

Production and sale of Prosecco semi-parkling wine DOC Treviso

One of the most symbolic products of the province of Treviso surely has to be the Prosecco semi-sparkling wine that comes from the production of Glera grapes of a minimum of 85% to which, according to the vintage,  Chardonnay and Verdiso are added. This fortunate combination gives rise to the classic sparkling wine that is lively and full of gaiety.

Production and sale of Verdiso IGT semi-parkling wine

The Verdiso is a strong and vigorous vine variety that consents steady production and shows good adaptability to different types of terrain. The flavour is dry, lively and sharp, evoking green apples, of medium body and has a slightly bitter aftertaste. For these characteristics it may enter in the composition of the Prosecco DOC in the realization of the spumante wines.

The Verdiso is a white wine obtained from the by now rare vineyards cultivated in the territory of the rolling hills named the Colli Trevigiani. This semi-parkling wine is characterized by its fresh and delicate fragrance and the flavour of citrus fruits, harmonious and pleasant to taste, which make it a perfect accompaniment for snacks and light meals. As the name suggests, it differentiates from other whites for its yellow straw colour with clear greenish glints that make it a unique and inimitable wine of the Treviso piedmont area. Due to the limited production the sale of this wine was almost completely depleted at a local level, although over the last few years an increasing interest in this autochthonous variety has been registered and thanks to the safeguarding policies implemented by some producers, sales have been consolidated.

The passion for our vineyards

The quality of Vignarosa lies in the history, the land, in the experience and constant everyday commitment. Red and white wines, semi-sparkling and sparkling wines all draw their prestigious characteristics and their charm from this nature, from this history and from the genuine passion of all those involved in the production.
